Requests for alterantive treatments for cancer?

cancer treatments
Candice C asked:

I have heard that there are some Asian medical treatments that have been very affective. Anyone have any knowledge in this field that can help me? I am looking for all kinds of treatments and alternative medicines.
Thank you

You need to bear in mind that in this context ‘alternative’ is another word for ‘unproven’.

Conventional cancer treatments have been rigourously tested and proven in double-blind, peer-reviewed clinical trials. No ‘alternative’ medicine has been tested and proven in this way; if it had it would no longer be alternative medicine, it would just be medicine.

Wherever there is cancer, ther is a ruthless charlatan eager to part desperate and vulnerable people from their cash in exchange for ineffective alternative treatments.

If you are tempted by any particular alternative treatment, please do a search on and for some facts before investing money, hope and (most dangerous of all) time in an ineffective and possibly dangerous ‘cures’ and ‘treatments’.

Its not so much that alternatives are unproven, they are just not documented such are conventional treatments. Alternatives work when used in the right doses and treatments. Used with conventional, alternatives can help maintain good health while undergoing conventional treatments. There have been cases where alternatives have worked on their own to halt or slow down some cancers… alternatives don’t always work as the same with conventional.
There is no one herb/vitamin or mineral that will cure cancer, even with the right combo for the right person chances of overcoming cancer is slim…. no different then conventional. The only thing you can do is research the type of cancer you are fighting, weed out all the ones that are wanting big money.. most of the alternatives that are helpful, aren’t that expensive so be careful.

“alternative” treatments are simply those which are not effective enough to be approved by the medical establishment, or are simply not effective at all. If they worked, they wouldn’t be “alternative”, they would be embraced by mainstream medicine (who could then charge you lots of money to cure you with them).

People promoting “alternative” treatments are usually either misguided or just plain nasty people.

Whenever anyone suggests some “exotic” cancer treatment, be careful to look at the actual cancer rates in the location where the treatment comes from (usually some Pacific island), and you’ll almost always notice that cancer rates are RISING in that location, whereas cure rates are rising far more rapidly in countries (like the US) where “traditional” methods based on actual science are more prevalent.

If you cannot locate reliable documented evidence about cancer treatments than everything that you ‘hear’ is considered hearsay . . it is unproven. And the problem with ‘trying this out’ . .there is harm to it . . you have no idea what the side effects may be . . you have no idea if the alternative treatment will actually encourage cancer growth or intefere with treatment . .in most cases of advanced cancers you literally do not have the time to be experimenting to see if something will work or not . . using alternative treatments could in fact cost you valuable time and eventually your life. You do not hear about the failures of alternative treatments because it is undocumented . . you rely instead on people who have no medical background, do not know you, who will charge you money for their products, and will have no backup plans when the treatment fails. I have known many people who have ‘tried out’ alternative treatments who sincerely believe that they know more than a doctor . . because they ’saw’ it on the Internet. So . . proceed with caution . .be aware that the chance you take with this will take time away from a traditional approach. The difference between traditional medicine and alternative . . is that traditional has the data to back it up . . the research . . the clinical trials . . you know that there is a higher chance of what will or will not work . . with alternative medicine it is all guess work as far as dosages, length of time, and you have nothing to measure whether the treatment is working or failiing. I know one young man who was diagnosed with stage 1 abdominal sarcoma, had the surgery to remove it, and decided against traditional treatment. He was all for the alternative approach, holistic meds, strict diet (cost him about $4000 a month) vitamins, he saw a naturopathic doctor . . and would tell us each month how well he was doing . . he relapsed to a stage IV cancer within six months. None of it had done him any good as far as the cancer goes . . now it might have made him feel better and able to fight his cancer . . but he is at stage IV now and wasted all that time and money only to have the cancer come back stronger than ever.

You can check with the National Center of Complementary and Alternative medicine to see what might be available and somewhat promising for treatments. But, from what I have seen with cancer . . it is a nasty, nasty disease . . unless you have little choices available . . than at this point if you want the best chance at ‘cure’ or ‘remission’ . . traditional medicine has the data, protocol, and documented evidence to support treatment . . alternative is guess work or luck with nothing substantial to back up its claims.

The reason there is no scientific evidence for alternative treatments is that they are not highly profitable to big pharma. It is impossible by law for a substance to be considered to have scientific evidence unless big pharma submits it to the FDA,and they will only submit things that are very very profitable to them. So the many thousands of studies of natural substances that have cured or treated cancer are ignored by our government because they were not done under the control of big pharma.
Since most alternative cancer treatments are very inexpensive and non-patentable,they do not provide the cancer industry with a single penny of revenue so they are relatively obscure.
