depends on the grade and stage of the breast cancer but it can be surgery, chemo, radiation
May need all of them or only one or two of them
For my stage 3 grade 3 breast cancer I needed all 3 treatments
you should just go to the cancer web page on breast cancer society
loads of information and places to read up on cancer…there are many ways to treat it depending on the type. I had cancer of the breast and after I found out I had a total mastectomy total removel of breast and tissue and muscle in that area 2 weeks after my diagnosis. At that same time had reconstuctive work to have a somewhat normal breast implant but no nipple cause they had to take that too. Its been 8 yrs now and still cancer free. I still have check ups but seems to be gone. never any chemo or anything else…I guess it does depend on the type and how big the cancer is when they find it. but go to those sites and read read read. Good luck
There are new advances made every day. This is probably not the best place to get the most up-to-date treatment info. There are the broad categories of surgery, chemo and radiation. The specifics of these treatments change often. Check out the many breast cancer sights available.
As a six-year breast cancer survivor I would like to suggest that the most powerful tools your family member has are her attitude, determination and sense of humor. Add good support from family and friends and cutting-edge medical treatment and her journey will be much easier. You and your family are in my prayers. Good Luck and be well!
radiation and quemo therapy
There is another treatment - if your relative has breast cancer she will almost certainly be put on hormonal drugs after surgery, radiotherapy, etc.
You can find out more about the side effects of these drugs on

Hello,
Sorry to read about your family member’s breast cancer diagnosis. The good news is that breast cancer treatment has improved a ton since my grandmother died of it in the 1980’s.
Breast cancer treatment includes:
(1) Surgery to remove the tumor which is best if there are few of them and they are small.
(2) Chemotherapy to reduce the number of microscopic implants and limit the spread.
(3) Radiation to treat disease in areas in which the other two are less effective …like disease in the spine or other bones.
Take Care,
