get medicaid
Try the American Cancer Society’s web page. Also talk to the oncologist treating your mom, and/or the hospital where your mom gets chemo - they should know about assistance programs for your moms type of cancer if they exist. There are resources available to help people who are on shaky financial ground.
Also look for specialty groups that are interested in whatever form of cancer your mom has. There may be funds available from such groups. Also, if your mom is old enough to be a member of AARP, check with them to see if they know of both governmental and non-governmental agencies that offer assistance to cancer patients in financial trouble.
Some pharmaceutical companies have their own assistance programs to help defray the cost of chemo. Your doc should know if that’s the case.
Last resort - see if your mom is eligible for medicaid - assuming your mom is not yet on medicare. Medicare covered much, but not all, of my mother’s medical bills during her battle with uterine cancer.
Hope it all turns out ok.
Most drug companies have a patient assistance plan that looks at a patient’s needs on a case by case basis. Also try to get into a clinical trial. The drugs and medical care are free. Your oncologist can help you there. You can also try contacting the drug companies directly. Also try these links.

When I was first diognosed, I asked the American Cancer Society where to find financial help. Their answer was seek help from your community and Don’t Quit your job if you get medical.
Best help I found was:
Not only will you find finacial information and help, it has great Caregiver information and support!
Good Luck from a 6 year Breast Cancer Survivor.
Have her check with a social worker at the hospital. Apply for SSI. That really helped us when my son was going through chemo.
